Garfield community comes out to support autism walk

According to the team founder, Garfield High School teacher Dawn Kempka, the full squad was comprised of 180 members. This is Kempka's fourth year organizing Team Ryan, which is dedicated to her 9-year-old son, Ryan, who has autism.

I spent a day in the Garfield school system working with elementary school children and inquired with the Garfield High School athletic director if they would have an interest in bringing lacrosse to Garfield girls. He was receptive to the idea.
